In-House Packaging & Postage Service 

Leighton Hall Auctions are extremely proud to offer an efficient customer service to all of our customers and to help, we also offer in-house packaging and postage services. We understand that it is not always possible to collect your winning lots in person and in most cases, we can assist with the delivery of your items. We are not professional packers or shippers but we are experienced in packaging and shipping most antiques from jewellery and watches to pottery as well as many other items. We will endeavour to pack your item as carefully and as responsibly as possible to ensure that your parcel has a safe journey with the courier. 

Once you have received your invoice after the auction has finished, you can request postage in a couple of ways. Attached to the invoice, will be a 'Request Shipping' button which you can click and then fill in your delivery details. Once we have had chance to work out a quote, we shall then email you an amended invoice with postage added. Alternatively, you can email or call us to request postage also after the auction has closed.

When your invoice has been paid in full, our shipping department will then begin to package your item and book a parcel collection for your parcel(s). We aim to make our postage service as efficient and quick as we can as we know you will be eager to receive your items. We will begin to package and post items the day after the following working day after an auction. We send the majority of our parcels on a 24 hour delivery service from the day of shipping to ensure they reach you as quick as possible. Once your parcel has been shipped, you will receive a confirmation email with your tracking code as well as the parcel courier. We normally use Parcelforce and Royal Mail for both UK and International orders unless otherwise requested.

Please note: Leighton Hall Auctions will not be responsible for any damage to items while in transit and once the parcels have left our auction house, they are no longer our responsibility. We also reserve the right to refuse to package and post any lots that we deem unsuitable for our in-house service. For more information or to check if your lot qualifies for in-house postage please contact us prior to an auction. If we are unable to ship it in-house, we will of course recommend couriers to help.

We are unable to package or post clocks or barometers using our in-house postage as we cannot professionally secure the movement whilst it is in transit. We are also unable to post guns and most bladed articles due to regulations set by most couriers. If you have any doubts, please do ask prior to bidding. If we are unable to post an item if it has deemed too large, heavy or fragile to post, then we are sadly unable to package it either.

 

Approximate Postage Costs Within the UK:

Please note: we will only post to the registered of the payment card used to ensure maximum security whilst protecting both ourselves and our customers also against fraud.

Although delivery times can't be guarenteed, from the date of full payment being received, most customers can expect to receive their items within 7 working days if not before.

The quoted price of shipping includes the cost of postage, the cost of quality packaging materials and also considers time also. We always aim to ensure our postage is excellent value and we always recommend obtaining a quote before bidding. We will of course try to ensure the postage is cost-effective for all of our buyers.

£10.00 plus VAT includes insurance up to £500. Insurance upto £1000 costs £11.00 plus VAT. Insurance upto £2500 costs £13.00 plus VAT.

For larger items or items that wouldn't fit into a standard box, the price is determined by the auctioneer whilst they will make every effort to make it as cost effective as possible, the size and weight will be considered. We appreciate there may be cheaper alternatives in relation to the shipping service however we do package mostly with double walled boxes, bubble wrap and loosefill. Postage costs outside of the UK mainland

Please be aware that as the UK has now left the EU, anyone purchasing from outside the UK may be charged customs and VAT duties as their items enter their own country. Please note, Leighton Hall Auctions will not be liable to pay any charges incurred, the recipient will be solely responsible to pay these fees. These duties are set by the government of each country and are outside our control.

Prices are based on size and weight of the package being sent. For a quote, please send the full postal address prior to the auction day. Prices will include packaging costs and postage as above.

What happens if items aren't suitable for in-house postage?

If your purchases are too large, fragile or awkward to package and post in-house, please do speak to us as we have a list of couriers that we can recommend to collect and safely deliver your items. For items of furniture, such as single chairs or housekeepers cupboards, you would either need arrange your own transport or arrange a courier. We often work with a wide range of couriers and we highly recommend the following courier services:

We have included the couriers contact details and their location though all do cover the entirety of the UK and also the exportation of antiques around the world too. We would strongly recommend any of the below however please note, you would need to contact and arrange direct with the courier about your item(s) and pay direct to the courier. They are all more than happy to provide delivery quotes without obligation both before or after bidding on items within our auction.
